This is a resource which works very well as a display and doubles up for shape activities. There is a colour poster showing 25 different circle shaped objects that children may be familiar with - linking shape to real world. There is a template included for children to draw their own objects within circles. Each picture shape is duplicated with 2 to a page. This is a useful matching activity as well as encouraging speaking and listening. Shape pictures include: types of balls, food items, signs and coins. Extend the activity with children looking around the school or classroom for circular objects and taking pictures. These can also be made into collages or posters.

There is a black and white set of worksheets based on the posters for children to draw the food for each day, write the word and find the initial sound for the day of the week. Children can check that the food and days match the story itself. Ask them to check Saturday in particular. Did the story specify what flavour the ice cream was? Links to stories, reading, writing, days of the week and time.
